Rebellion Launched!

Blackshirt Rebellion was published by Level Best Books in the USA on 17 September, the third in my Room Z thrillers set in a 1930s Britain under the shadow of fascism. It effectively rounds off the set-up that began with Blackshirt Masquerade and took a big twist in Blackshirt Conspiracy. Many thanks to everyone at Level Best and to friends and colleagues who helped make it happen.

It’s been a busy two weeks. For the modern author the work doesn’t end when the manuscript is posted off to the publisher. There’s the newsletter, blog, social media posts, cross-posting, and active participation with friends, forums, readers and reviewers in the run-up. The website needs to be revised for the new cover art, new sales links and internal cross-links. Then sites such as Amazon Author Central, the Crime Writers Association database, Bookbub, Goodreads and others need updating.

Reviews are very important to authors, particularly for a new book. As soon as the ebook version of the Advance Review Copy was available, this had to go out to reviewers. Likewise when the box of physical copies of the ARC arrived; they need to be handed out or posted.

Please message me if you would like to receive a copy to review – remembering that these are uncorrected proofs.

Blackshirt Rebellion is available from Amazon UK and Amazon.com

In the meantime I mustn’t bore everyone by yelling BUY MY BOOK on every social media channel going, so its been a case of diluting the sales pitch with posts that readers may find interesting. I’m just back from safari in Botswana and bursting to share some of my 1000+ photographs so this has given me ample excuse to follow the 80/20 mantra; four posts that are not shouting about my book for every one that is. I’ll share a little more about the safari on the next blog.

The Crime Reader’s Association News is carrying my piece ‘When is a Fascist Not a Fascist?’. It sounds like a music hall joke, but the fine distinction drives the plot of the new book.

The CWA run a feature called Hot off the Press and a launch day tweet

Case Files issue #71 will carry a piece on Blackshirt Rebellion.

This month’s edition of Mystery People (available by subscription) includes my article ‘The Good Fascist’.
