Roman Guernsey

WP_20180911_11_10_34_Pro (2)

Before the 1970s little was known of the Roman archaeology of Guernsey. This volume features Excavations at La Plaiderie (1983-85) and the Bonded Store (1996-2005) in St Peter Port. It also rounds up 100 other sites in Guernsey and Herm where Roman objects have been found, including littoral and shipwreck sites. The first substantial pottery report from the islands shows how Guernsey played a part in trade routes between the Mediterranean, Western France and Channel from the 1st century BC to the 5th century AD.
